Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Newcastle, Rockhampton, Bunbury and Terang.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 1 @ 9:30 PM

Group 2 placegetter EXTREME DIVA (4) resumes after racing with distinction in much tougher company last prep. Since fitted with a recent trial placing over 740m at Randwick on August 5. Expected to finish over the top of these. PEARLER (7) is a filly by D'argento out of Redan Lane on debut for the Gary Nickson yard. Not pushed out in her only trial when fourth over 815m at Warwick Farm on July 26. Will appreciate the 2kg claim from the low gate. RUNRANIRUN (8) is a three-year-old mare on debut by Press Statement from Marju Rani who has thrown plenty of winners. Has shown a ton of ability in all four trials and drawn to stalk the good speed. BACKWARD GLANCE (3) three-year-old filly who grabbed her first minor placing in a maiden at Muswellbrook last start. On her home track today and in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Extreme Diva to win.

ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 5 @ 3:50 PM

HELLISH (2) was heavily bet and missed a whisker first up following his switch from a strong Victorian barn. He's won a trial prior and has more to offer. Maps for the run of the race and it's hard to risk the potent Stanley-Taylor linkage. DISCOVERED GOLD (6) belted the Maidens on debut by 2.3L racing forward. That stacks up and she's advantaged by an inside barrier. Presents fitter and is a winning chance. OUR TURN NOW (1) resumes and has switched from a leading Victorian stable. He's won fresh and owns a trial win. He's good enough and the betting will be key. HOLLYWOOD ANGEL (5) resumes and showed plenty early doors. Wiggins is a positive jockey engagement and no surprise if she goes well.
SELECTIONS: Backing Hellish.

BUNBURY: RACE 5 @ 5:50 PM

EXTREME LOVE (6) may have been run off her feet back to 1000m last start and looks suited out to this trip now for CJP. She'll get back anyway so the draw is no issue and the rating she produced to win two back stacks up highly in this. Expecting improvement with the rise in trip and she can return to winning ways. CLOSE AT HAND (2) gets the blinkers on for the first time following a 1.6L defeat as an equal favourite at Belmont 22 days ago. Cooper hops on now and claims 3kg and he's sure to be making his presence felt at the finish. KINGS SICARIO (3) just missed from well back last start when beaten 0.6L and now gets Brad Parnham in the saddle. This is tougher, but he drops in weight and his latest effort showed he's not far off a win. Live chance. BONNY ROCK (4) faded badly first-up at Belmont but was wide there over further. Back in trip holds the key and sharp improvement is expected. BUSTERS FREE (7) has claims on the back of some good recent efforts.
SELECTIONS: Extreme Love gets the nod.

TERANG: RACE 4 @ 2:30 PM

SAMMAAN CITY (12) resumed with a very good run in a rich race at Caulfield over 1400m, beaten just 2.75 lengths in fourth. Comes a fair way back in grade here and a repeat of that effort would just about win this. HOUDINI (11) resumed with a good run on wet ground at Hamilton at huge odds, finishing second, albeit no match for the winner. Can figure. TOGANMAIN (5) has had two runs back from a spell, just fair as favourite at Murtoa second up on heavy ground. Back slightly in trip here and a better surface should help. BERGASUN (10) is a gelding by Fiorente on debut for the Shane Jackson yard. Big watch with John Allen booked.
SELECTIONS: Sammaan City to win.
