Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 28.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Gunnedah, Wellington, Ballarat, Sunshine Coast, Horsham, Kalgoorlie and Mount Gambier..
GUNNEDAH: RACE 7 @ 4:07 PM
AKASAWA (3) bounced back to form in great style last start when emerging upon his rivals to score stylishly at Scone. Up in the weights this time but relishes this distance and is drawn much more favourably with high-striking hoop Aaron Bullock sticking. Only has to hold his form to be playing a role in the finish. FLOATING (10) comes through the same race as Akasawa but was far from his best when pulling up lame. Capable of much better and will prove hard to stop with a return to form. Can be worth chancing against the fave. BALTIC COAST (6) scored with a bit up his sleeve last start at Eagle Farm. Tougher task this time but goes well over the journey and is a serious contender on recent efforts.
SELECTIONS: Floating against the fave.

GUNNEDAH: RACE 8 @ 4:41 PM
LITTLE BEGINNINGS (2) is still learning his craft but has been hit or miss so far this time in. Interesting to note the blinkers now go on first time to help sharpen him up. Jockey/trainer combo reads well. Bold showing expected. COMPETITION (1) made solid in-roads to the line late last start after travelling rearward throughout. Open to further improvement but is likely to be coming from the rear again. Watch for hi charging late. HAMMOON JIG (14) was also an eye-catcher last start. Doesn't win out of turn but is drawn to settle much closer to the action this time from this inside gate. Don't take lightly. Can also entertain CIREBON (6) third-up.
SELECTIONS: Backing Little Beginnings to win.
WELLINGTON: RACE 5 @ 3:11 PM
MAJORITY (9) is knocking on the door of another win having run third at all three starts this time in, beaten a length at Moree last start as favourite. Looks primed for the rise to 1400m now and drops 3.5kg in the weights. Main danger comes out in the scratchings and leaves this at the mercy of Majority. MIRACLE DAY (6) has been in the market at his last couple of starts but hasn't made an impression. Can improve and pose a threat. ALMOST PERSUADED (7) has a handy strike rate and is right in the mix if fit to go first up.
SELECTIONS: Majority on top.
BALLARAT: RACE 7 @ 4:15 PM
SIR ATLAS (8) is undefeated in two starts and up in grade after scoring a slick 3 len win when resuming over 1443m at Geelong on May 12. Looks to have a ton of upside and gets all the favours from the inside gate. Go close. RECKONING (2) is holding his form well and due for a change of luck. Undefeated this track and gets in light with the claim. Looks a genuine top three prospect. THE CUNNING FOX (4) resumes today after running in much tougher company last time in. Has placed this track and not asked to do much in two recent trials. Can surprise at odds. SELECTIONS: Sir Atlas to win.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM
BRENTWOOD (4) led and won here and then was expected to repeat the dose at Gatton and was just beaten after an awkward start. Orman is a key jockey switch and he can bounce back drawn to advantage. CALCAREOUS (8) peaks off two narrow defeats and the form stacks up. Orman gets off but he has weight relief and can make the finish. HARMONY REIGNS (11) resumes and is likely to have come on. The wide gate needs managing but she's in the mix if presented forward. CAIRDEAS (17) comes back a bit in trip and seeks the hat trick. This is harder but he gets plenty of weight relief and can fill a minor slot.
SELECTIONS: Backing Brentwood.
HORSHAM: RACE 5 @ 3:25 PM
ONE OUT (3) resumes in easier company for a sharp barn. He's placed fresh in the past and rates strongly. He can win this. BONJOUR (5) is also good enough and comes back to a sprint following a 41-day freshen. Draws inside and the 3kg claim is handy. RIVIVY KENZ (6) resumes and has performed fresh. Yendall's booking suggests he's pleasing. SUNSET EAGLE (7) is also in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing One Out.
SECRET IDENTITY (6) finished third fresh up and since then has raced twice in the City with his last start at Belmont having some merit. He looks extremely well placed in the Country and should go very close to winning. FREE SOLO (5) has turned a corner most recently and will be backing up quickly for this. The blinkers go back on and they may help him where it's needed most. Include in all combinations. DANCING JACK (7) has been running on nicely at his last two starts and though the drop back to 1400 metres is of some concern he would only need the gaps to come his way to be right in the finish here. Watch for him late. SEND 'EM (4) won his maiden two starts back in his first start for the powerful local stable of Peter Fernie and then overcame a few difficulties to finish fourth last time out. The blinkers go on for the first time and he can't be left out of calculations. Each-way chance.
SELECTIONS: Secret Identity to win.
UNLIMITED ABILITY (2) resumes from a spell, she is a lot better than her last start run for sixth over 1100m would suggest. Deserves another chance today and is well worth a ticket. EAGLES FOREVER (1) resumes from a 13 week spell and rates highly with Teagan Voorham in the saddle. Don't overlook his chances in this line-up. VENUSIAN (4) looks ready to win after a solid performance last time out when finishing a narrowly beaten second over 1200m. Include in exotic bets.
SELECTIONS: Unlimited Ability to win.
