Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 1st June 2019

Bumper meeting at Rosehill on Saturday with the main focus on the last three legs of the Quaddie.

The Chris Waller trained Black On Gold has never been beyond 2200m, but appears poised to run a new career peak in the Listed W J McKell Cup [2400m].

An eye catcher late at Hawkesbury first up, he displayed sharp improvement last start when only narrowly beaten in the Lord Mayors Cup [2000m].

Visually he was the run of the race and the clock certainly backed up the strength of his performance, recording the fastest L1000m, 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m of the race.

Not only that, he recorded the sixth fastest L200m of the entire meeting - he is low-level flying.

Black On Gold has won two of five attempts third up and has drawn to get into a good spot, despite likely to be in the back half of the field.

Three of his seven career wins have come on his home track and while his last start SP (30-1) is some query, still more than happy to be in his corner.

Will need his fair share of luck, but with room to move in the straight, he should prove very hard to hold out.

The Gary Portelli trained Strome is also airborne and appears well placed to go back to back in the eighth event.

An impressive winner fresh, Strome really impressed on the Kenso second up, before winning narrowly at this track over 1400m.

Aided by a gun ride from Robbie Dolan, she returned a new career peak and returned good figures in the process.

Takes on tougher company on Saturday, but appears very well placed at the weights and only looks to have to hold her form to be right in the finish again.
