Sydney Specials : Randwick - 09th March 2019

The Sydney Autumn Carnival is in full swing with a crackerjack meeting at Randwick on Saturday.

Across the nine race card there are a number of key betting opportunities, kicking off with the Anthony Cummings trained Baller  in the second event.

An impressive winner first up at Rosehill, Baller continued his upward spiral and remains open to further improvement on Saturday.

Having bumped into the talented Zalatte prior to a break, Baller is reportedly being trained differently this time in and will be kept to the sprint trips.

Although only a narrow margin first up, he always appeared in firm control and the clock backed up the strength of his performance.

He returned a new career peak and the decision to stay at 1100m appears another tick.

With good speed engaged, he looks to get a lovely trail for new rider Kerrin McEvoy and with a few of his key rivals first up, a high pressure race plays firmly into his hands.

The Brad Widdup trained Sandbar  was backed as if unbeatable first up and failed to really fire when fourth behind Gem Song.

It appears decent form on the surface, however the clock suggests it was only fair and he remains under strong notice on Saturday.

Baller hits this race on the up and given the stable are already eying off the Group 1 Galaxy, he has obviously come through his first up run in good order.

Better than 3-1 is on offer about his chances early doors and more than happy to side his way, have him marked 5/2 favourite.

In the eighth event, the David Payne trained All Too Soon  sets up well second up and should prove very hard to beat.

While prone to mixing her form, she went into the paddock in good order and returned with a bang when second behind Seaway.

Conceded a key fitness edge there and found the line well late to suggest the step up to the mile is big plus.

Won't be concerned by any rain about and on best form, she is very well treated at the weights.

Tim Clark sticks aboard and much like Baller she looks to get into a lovely trailing position.

Her second up win last preparation was very good and if able to follow a similar form pattern/spike she should take plenty of beating.
