Settling in a good spot just off the leaders for much of the race, Clarton Super ran on well in the straight, taking the lead inside the final stages for a narrow win over Forever Young in second with Infantry third.

The five-year-old Swift Alliance gelding ran to a clear new career peak Timeform rating of 103, 10 pounds above his win in the Group 2 Ew Barker Trophy over Fortune winner before a spell.

Lightly raced with just the 11 starts to his name, winning five of them, Clarton Super looks to have a big campaign ahead of him as he aims up at some feature racing.

Of the beaten runners, Forever Young in second would have lost no admirers, beaten a half length and returning a Timeform figure of 104, his highest since running to 109 when winning the Group 2 Chairman’s Trophy last campaign.

Infantry also looks to have a good preparation ahead of him, running to 103 in third, slightly below his Group 1 form last campaign and will certainly improve as he goes up in trip.

On Sunday, Mr Colin made it two wins from as many starts in a strong Novice over 1200m.

With some six last start winners in the race, Mr Colin settled around midfield in fifth before proving too strong over the concluding stages, winning by just under a length from Trigamy in second with What’s New well back in third.

Running to a Timeform figure of 76 when winning by four and a half lengths on debut, Mr Colin ran just one pound lower on Sunday and looks one to follow as he continues to make his way through the grades.

Trigamy in second ran to a Timeform figure of 72 his highest since coming to Singapore.

Dalgety was also able to make it two wins in a row with a narrow victory over Chocolats in the Class 3 over 2000m.

Running on from midfield to get the better of the leader Chocolats, Dalgety ran to a Timeform rating of 77, just three pounds below his big win the start prior and certainly looks a staying prospect going forward.
