Singapore racing best bets, race analysis looking at the full Singapore card Saturday, 20th May with selections & information on all the contenders.
RACE 1
SEE YAH – Connections will be happy that he has landed in this division. He brings the best form with two wins and should find the front and give them something to chase again. Big watch on him.
SACRED SUITE – Brave in defeat last start and will be supported in the market with good form from that previous run. Knocking on the door to win one but may have to settle for a minor placing here. Daniel Moor takes the steer for the first time.
CIZEN LUCKY – Very hard horse to try and catch but has been racing consistently without winning this season. When you least expect, he will come out and surprise a field of this quality. Multiples player.
GOD'S GIFT – Holds good stats around this mark and has recorded a win at the distance in the middle of last year. Will need to improve sharply but his best can see him do that. Australian star Mark Zahra will add some confidence here.
RACE 2
CREATIVE DREAMS – Improving type from one of our leading stables. Yet to place in two attempts on the turf but drew wide on both occasions. Gets a much more promising barrier here and that previous race will be good form going forward.
POPEYETHESAILORMAN – Joins the Donna Logan stable and has the benefit of two trials since joining the yard. He has finished on the heels of some handy performers and holds strong claims here.
SHIHAB – Has the advantage of race experience and consistent experience at that. Probably a better horse when he takes a sit and should be breaking that maiden status very shortly.
IMPERIAL PARADE – Career best run finishing second to Maximum Control who won in very nice style. Should find the front again this week and possibly give these a fright.
RACE 3
BOOMBA – Working his way towards a win in 2023 and came out of a strong Class 4 mile last start where they ran solid time. Should be among the main hopes in the market.
KING ZOUSTAR – Prefer to see him over 1200m and on the poly track but recent form has seen him not far away from the winner most starts. Hard to not include him in exotics plays.
WINNING STRIDE – First run this weekend for the new stable. Has performed in the past over this track and trip and his trials between runs have been promising, place chance.
AFTERMATH – Mark Zahra jumps on board this weekend hoping to get this son of Spirit Of Boom firing. First senior rider booked on board since his last win under Manoel Nunes, don't leave him out.
RACE 4
BIG DAY – Broke their hearts three runs ago with an easy watch over this distance. Last start was the real shock when coming from behind and getting the win on the Polytrack surface. He looks the class horse in this field.
SAYONARA – Has one win and three minor placings over this course and distance. This five-time winner finds himself in one of the easier lineups in his career so far. Don't dismiss.
SUPER TALENT – Came from well back to finish third behind See Yah last start. He will be getting a long way back again in this and a minor placing would be a pass mark at this stage of his career.
WIND OF LIBERTY – Still a maiden but returns to a distance where we don't see him race too often but has some minor placings to his name. One for the multiples if he shows up.
RACE 5
BINGO MASTER – Racing in very consistent form this season and comes to course and distance where he has a career best record with (5:1-1-1). Can go one better here.
MO ALMIGHTY – Headlines the ratings and weights for this division with a strong minor placing. Didn't have any favors from the wide draw last start and stuck it out well to finish in the money. Will be aided by the 4kg claim here.
JUST BECAUSE – One of his two wins have come at this course and distance. Back to a rating of 47 that saw him score his most recent win and holds each way claims in a field like this. Stable has hit form recently.
CHIVALRIC KNIGHT – Led throughout to beat Cizen Lucky over this trip a few weeks back. If he can get away with cheap early sectionals, he can score again but his wins are few and far between.
RACE 6
SAVVY COMMAND – Only beaten 1.3 lengths over the same track and trip last start. Woodworth stays on board who knows the horse well, look for him to run a similar race this weekend.
KING OF SIXTY-ONE – After being bumped early in the race last start, he had to do extra work to find the lead. After finding the top, he was only run down by one horse, losing the race by less than a length. If he finds an easy lead, he will take plenty of running down, respect.
KHAO MANEE – Narrowly missed the placing last start in a solid time. A repeat performance sees him in the top three, don't overlook.
PACIFIC STAR – Willing to overlook the last start performance. He cast a plate and didn't seem to handle the firmer track. Should appreciate the rise to a mile, each way contender with any luck in running.
RACE 7
SATURNO SPRING – Consistency is the main factor with this horse. He rarely runs a bad race and 1800m looks his bread and butter. Hard to go against him.
ELITE INCREDIBLE – Gets out to 1800m where he had placed on four of his six attempts. Found to be a little flat footed last start but hopefully third up and out to a preferred trip he will be among the winning hopes.
PENNYWISE – Back to class three this weekend. Was bumped early in the race last start and it made it very tough for him to recover. Worth another chance here as a top three prospect.
WIND TRAIL – Steps up in grade here but the recent win was solid. Providing he settles mid race, a top four finish would certainly not be out of the question.
RACE 8
CITY GOLD STAR – Failed to fire second up but only beaten four lengths to the two dead heat finishers. Form has held up with one winning again and the other placing last week. Trialed up strongly between races. Nunes on and draws well in barrier six.
FADABOY – Hit the line strongly carrying no weight and finds himself in similar circumstances this weekend. Has been working down in the ratings but can surprise in this grade.
FROM THE NAVY – Has worked his way down the ratings and sits off a mark of 60 that saw him win two races around this mark back in July of last year. Strong course and distance stats so could be value here. Wide draw isn't to his favor so will have to be smart.
CHARMINTON – Solid second placing last start. His record on the long course isn't great but doesn't mean he is hopeless on the turf with a strong record over the short course. One to consider.
RACE 9
SKY EYE – Sits only nine rating points below King Arthur and gets a 4.5kg swing on the topweight. Weighted to run a good race and potentially win, worth plenty of respect.
KING ARTHUR – Carries 59kg with Mark Zahra in the saddle. He is the highest rated horse and must be considered a winning hope despite giving many of these horses plenty of weight. Each way.
SO HI CLASS – They have by-passed the Kranji Mile and come to the Class 1 where he will carry absolutely no weight. A smart decision by the stable and potentially a winning one, big winning chance.
LUCKY JINSHA – Last start was a head scratcher to say the least but it's hard to not give him another chance this weekend. Hoping the poly track champion of 2022 can bounce back on the turf and run a great race, one for the multiples.
RACE 10
MONGOL WARRIOR – Former kiwi galloper who contested Group races and didn't disgrace in those starts. Has trialed up in nice order and brings plenty of attention for a first up victory. Watch the market.
RHETT BUTLER – Impressive victory scoring off a lightweight in Restricted Maiden company. The family are proven early runners and he will take plenty of experience from that run. Draws the inside alley and will carry no weight again.
BRANSOM – Scored on debut before tackling the Group 3 sprint at his last start. He drew wide that day and was never a factor. Drops back to suitable conditions and stable think he has ability.
ENERGY BABY – Rider was warned after that last start and caught the eye with a huge run to snag second place. Looks to be an improving type.
RACE 11
LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO – The Raffles Cup champion returns to the races and heads to the ultimate target for this preparation. Recent trial suggests he's well and ready to go, at level weights with all the other runners, he will be very hard to beat.
STREET OF DREAMS – Presents as the horse who could be one of the big threats to the favourite. He's undefeated heading into this and meets his toughest competitor yet. Doing everything right but he will require a career best performance to win.
KATAK – Second to Lim's Kosciuszko in the Raffles Cup. Recent trials suggest he is forward enough to give a sight in the race but like Street Of Dreams, will need to run out of his skin to beat the champ.
MR MALEK – Second in this race last year and returns to the races ready to put his best foot forward. He completes the two-pronged attack for Steven Burridge and could be a big chance for a top three finish if he handles the mile first up.
RACE 12
DREAM ALLIANCE – Has been so consistent as he gets set to contest the four year old series very soon. Has only missed the placings on one occasion and a class three victory looks a very achievable target.
SABAH STAR – Returns back to class three company after contesting the Group 2 EW Barker last start. He is a five time winner over the track and distance and looks primes to run another great race here this weekend.
INVINCIBLE TYCOON – Steps up again in grade this weekend after his class four victory last start. Looks to be a super progressive gelding who is capable of working his way up the grades. Seems to be improving every start, each way chance.
ISTATABA – Has only had the one start this preparation, but she comes into this race with the fresh legs. Dropping back in distance isn't ideal but she has a class edge on most of these and that should take her a long way, place hope.
