Jockey Danny Beasley heaped praise on trainer David Kok after the pair combined for a double on Sunday.
After they struck earlier with hot favourite Joyful Melody in Race 4, it was the turn of Seize The Day to double the dose five races later, courtesy of a well-timed run in the $75,000 Kranji Stakes C race over 1100m.
The Happy Giggle five-year-old was still last in the nine-horse field as they approached the home turn, but once he was hooked to the complete outside, he let down powerfully to overhaul his rivals and score by three parts of a length from Warspirit (Tan Wei Li) with Seligi (Joao Moreira) third another neck away.
The winning time was 1min 5.33secs.
“Credit to David. Both horses were well prepared and they both looked a treat in the yard,” said Beasley.
“Seize The Day was beautifully placed in that race, especially after he’s raced against the likes of Huka Falls and Bahen.
“He hung out a bit around the bend, but I had a nice cover. Mighty Creation and True North had to make their runs wide and they gave me a good drag.
“From the home turn, I was pretty confident he would win. David did tell me to wait till the 300m to launch my attack and that goes to show he knows his horses very well.”
Lamborghini Flame (Muhd Firdaus), who was resuming from an almost two-year-long absence, was back in his customary role of leading from the start, but soon had company in the shape of D’Creator (Stephen Baster) and Seligi with a trio of runners consisting of Warspirit, True North (John Powell) and Mighty Creation (Saifudin Ismail) joining in the fray.
Beasley bided his time and only started to get busy from the 400m as he steered Seize The Day to the outside with the obvious intent of having the last crack at them inside the last furlong.
Seligi was battling it out with Warspirit when Seize The Day swooped down the outside to settle the issue. Shaolin Soldier (A'Isisuhairi Kasim) who had trouble finding clear galloping room inside the last 200m, ran on strongly between runners to finish fourth, a neck away from Seligi.
