Brisbane Best: Doomben - November 3

Talented mare Mishani Electra has found a winnable race for her second outing of this campaign at Doomben on Saturday.

The Ben Currie-trained four-year-old mare lines up in race eight on the program, the Weareco Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1110m.

Mishani Electra made an encouraging return to the track a fortnight ago when she was a close second at this course.

She showed good speed to lead on that occasion and fought on strongly before being edged out in the closing stages.

She should be a fitter mare with that run under the belt and has won second up before, also possessing a 50 per cent strike rate at this distance and winning her only 1110m run at this course.

Jockey Michael Murphy’s 2kg claim brings her in well at the weights and she looks well placed.

In the following race, the Bac Friends Of Sam Class 6 Plate (1615m), the consistent Phabeni offers each way value.

A lightly-raced four-year-old gelding from the Terry McCarthy yard, Phabeni has been in good form including an Ipswich win two starts back.

He stepped up to this course last start showing good speed to lead then fighting on well for a 1.5 length third over 1350m.

He goes out to the mile for the first time but if he can find a position on speed and not be forced to work too hard in transit he can give a big sight.
