Watch for Soosa Rama to hit the ground running first up in Race 5 at Sandown on Wednesday.

The Colin Little-trained mare resumes at Sandown on Wednesday in the Sportius Global Events Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m).

Her upcoming campaign follows a three start preparation earlier in the season which was encouraging without yielding a win.

Soosa Rama’s early season campaign culminated at stakes level where she held her own and Wednesday’s first up assignment will mark a sharp drop in grade.

The mare possesses a master Timeform rating of 99 which has her sitting well clear of rivals in Wednesday’s opening leg of the quaddie.

She has won first up in the past and possesses a strong record at the trip having won two from three.

Usually one to settle back in her races, Soosa Rama should appreciate the long Sandown Lakeside straight.

There appears to be adequate early tempo also which should work to her favour although there is the prospect she may race more forward first up from barrier 5.

Scratchings hurt the depth in Wednesday’s Sportius Global Events Handicap (1200m) and Soosa Rama is clearly the main beneficiary.

Edgewood is the second elect after a strong first up win at Bendigo.

The Robbie Griffiths-trained gelding settled back and rattled home to strike the front late.

It yielded the gelding a Timeform rating of 87 which still sits well below a master figure achieved at this course as a younger horse.

The five-year-old will likely get back with Soosa Rama and be running on.

The son of Churchill Downs also has the benefit of race fitness over his main rival.

He has seemingly returned in excellent order and warrants plenty of consideration.

Stratumsphere was a winner at Morphettville two back and was sound at Moonee Valley last start.

He has drawn to receive all of the favours from barrier 1 and the 2kg claim of apprentice Harry Coffey is used to good effect.

Colin Little and Damien Oliver have long proved a formidable combination and in partnership possess a profit on turnover of 12.1%.

The pair can build on this record with Soosa Rama in the Sportius Global Events Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m).
