Petrenui from Perth all pace and power on the poly

A flying machine formerly from West Australia should notch up his first win since coming to Singapore this evening drawn the ace.

Petrenui is a three-year-old that has super speed and he won three of four starts when prepared in Perth with the hattrick coming for Ascot trainer Craig Wright.

The son of Bletchley Park was originally trained by Frankie Maynard and had one start for him as a juvenile plus prior had won three barrier trials in a row.

When the gelding resumed for Wright at the start of this season last year the hattrick was impressive and clear cut all coming over 1000m.

If he did not lead he was never far away and every one of the wins came at 58 seconds and change for the 1000m.

He also carried up to 59kg so can fly still with plenty on the back.

Petrenui looks the winner in Race Seven tonight, the feature S$75K Kranji Stakes C over 1000m on the polytrack.

It was hard not to be taken by his Singapore debut early May for now trainer Brian Dean when a superb second in a 58.71 for the 1000m under 56.5kg in the same grade as tonight.

He was a tad tardy but then showed blistering speed and matched motors throughout until late in the piece with the eventual winner Ronnie Brown.

I can assure you if Ronnie Brown was in this field tonight he would be red hot odds on as that was his fifth win since coming to Singapore when beating Petrenui.

Corey Brown picks up the ride and all his concentration will be on using the inside gate fully and the natural speed of his mount because the fence is always the shortest way around.

If he gets Petrenui out cleanly then at 56.5kg again it is hard to see this field catching or even getting near the sprinter at the line.

Dean is not used to being so far down the training ranks as he is at nineteenth starting tonight but with new blood such as Petrenui he will be climbing the premiership table until the end of the year for sure.

I have made notes on the former Argentinean galloper Treasureintheheart since he has come and raced at Kranji and from gate five is a serious chance.

He won a trial on May 23 by a huge margin and clocked 60.69 looking in free flowing form and just might have come good at last.

Manoel Nunes rode in the trial and he was atop the Michael Clements trained four-year-old last start when brave in the Ronnie Brown and Petrenui after trying to sit wide outside those pair in the lead.

Treasureintheheart has good early speed and the real son of Val Royal does look too have finally clicked in Singapore too me if last start and a trial win since are any indication.

With the turnover titan Joao Moreria winning a race in America recently and now suspended for the next few meetings in Singapore the popular Brazilian bet is still in play with Nunes and/or Ivaldo Santana.

The stable of Mark Walker is running vast numbers of starters and sometimes multiples in a race as they lead the training premiership by six wins and are hellbent on leading the whole way to the wire.

The new stable blood is continuous and with a heap of lower grade types the wins are easier to get and accumulate.

Walker has two runners in the feature event tonight in Soul Commander and Golden Sand Steed with both a chance but drawn awkwardly looking at the extreme pace in the race.

The pair both love the 1000m and all weather racing plus can go hard early in what is shaping up more and more as a must not miss drag race out of the stalls.

Soul Commander with a 2kg claim is well in at 54.5kg and has only run one poor race of late when the 58kg and sitting deep on the speed emptied the tank.

Prior to that miss he finished a game second in a Kranji Stakes C under 58kg in a 59.13 run 1000m behind Speed Demon so can rumble.

Last start his fourth in a stronger event than this in a 58.50 run 1000m dash was sound under 51.5kg and he is much better situated here.

Golden Sand Steed won last start at 1000m on the poly in Class Four and should cope up in grade with the booking of the experienced Alan Munro pivotal.

There is plenty more to come for this three-year-old son of Pins that has only missed paying a dividend twice in ten Singapore starts when a fourth once and a miss at G3.

He is a big strong gelding and will win several more times for Walker in Singapore and may not end up a sprinter only as 1400m to a mile does look attainable.

He is a half brother to Strike The Stars that won at 1800m and has a G1 second placing over a mile in the Australian Guineas behind Mosheen.

There is no doubt the vast majority of this field will be burning early and we could see a huge line in front for a substantial distance so even at the 1000m something can come with one last surge.

Lady Shark should not be able to keep up at this trip and is a double class riser on her last start emphatic win but the mare does look to be getting better and better with racing.

She is dropping 8.5kg and Santana after nailing the Triple Crown with three copybook rides culminating in a first G1 success in Singapore atop Stepitup is riding ten feet tall at the moment.

West Australia is a known producer of world-class sprinters with Scenic Blast, Miss Andretti and Hay List a trio that springs to mind immediately with the first two of those names winning at Royal Ascot.

Petrenui is a boulevard away from the top sprinting ranks at the moment but is sourced from a proven state and could be a Singapore star if he settles into the environment.

Even in a torrid contest I cannot see Petrenui beaten with a clean getaway as the rail rules when they are running along rampantly.

I do see the value as Treasureintheheart because the time to find some gold in him is now.

Respect for the Walker pair of Soul Commander and Golden Sand Steed as both are uber-fit and the latter importantly can be ridden quieter if required.

Enjoy the furnace-like feature sprint.
