Adoboli One You Can Bank On

The David Hayes-trained Adoboli looks ideally suited to break maiden status on resuming today in the Eastcoast Plumbtec Bairnsdale Maiden Plate (1208m) at Sale.

Adoboli made his debut in a Seymour maiden during August where he placed at odds behind subsequent metropolitan winner Onpicalo and the stakes placed Bel Thor.

The David Hayes-trained gelding on that occasion sat behind the tempo during the middle stages and while somewhat green still claimed third despite encountering traffic in the straight, 1.5 lengths off the winner.

Adoboli’s debut outing yielded a Timeform rating of 81, a figure far superior to anything his rivals in this contest have ever run to.

The form out of that Seymour maiden in August appears strong with seven of Adoboli’s nine rivals going on to shed their maiden tags.

The Nadeem gelding should further frank the form out of that maiden at Sale this afternoon.

Looking at his rivals, with the exception of Smarty Mcfly delivering what can be considered a fluke Timeform rating of 71, main ‘dangers’ only possess master figures around the mid 60’s.

Adoboli can break maiden status at Sale with a performance well below his master rating but looking at how the Hayes stable is performing this season, he shouldn’t be far off that mark.

David Hayes’ record for stable runners first up so far this season is fantastic.

The stable is striking at 18% with starters first up at the provincials while in the country they are firing at an impressive 33%.

Michael Walker takes the ride and has options aboard Adoboli from barrier 3.

Being on arguably the best horse in the race, expect Walker to work forward from the nice draw and be somewhere amongst the first four.

Rounding the home turn, it should be a case of Walker and Adoboli peeling into clear room and kicking away from their rivals in the straight.

Best Per Capita [Scratched] showed promise during his debut at Bendigo, running third in a six horse field with an effort assessed at 67.

The Choisir colt will no doubt have taken improvement from the run and is capable of at least keeping Adoboli honest.

From barrier 14, expect Andrew Mallyon to roll across and also be somewhere on the speed.

Mark Webb’s filly Set To Star also showed encouraging signs last start when fifth at Cranbourne.

Following an underwhelming debut, Set To Star was ridden more aggressively when trying to make all over seven furlongs.

Set To Star drops back in trip here and take up the lead from barrier 1, providing Adoboli something to chase in the process.

Just Cause, Rocky Realm and Red Mint all have place claims on best form however their inconsistency makes them risky betting propositions.

All in all, Adoboli looks the way to go in the Eastcoast Plumbtec Bairnsdale Maiden Plate (1208m) at Sale.
