Dark Sun To Reign Supreme

Progressive mare Dark Sun appears well placed to return to the winner's stall when she resumes in the sixth race at Ballarat today.

Having never missed the money fresh, Dark Sun comes into this race off some strong form races having finished behind Miss Octopussy at Flemington two starts back when she was unsuited racing down the straight.

Before finishing behind the Anthony Freedman trained Iridescente who went on to prove quite competitive in tougher company at Mooney Valley.

In what was only her second preparation the daughter of Brief Truce proved quite impressive having raced four times and only missed the money once collecting one win and two minor placings.

Dropping back in grade today from her last start third placing, Dark Sun appears well placed to collect her third career victory having drawn to receive all the favours.

Kane Bradley jumps back aboard having ridden her in all but one of her six career starts and expect him to settle her in off the speed and produce her late for a strong finish.

In a race which shapes up as having a number of leading chances, the Darren Weir trained Music Shop appears one of the major threats returning to racing at her home track.

Having featured in two of three runs fresh, Music Shop possesses an outstanding record at this track placing in five of her six attempts. This is far easier today then what she contested last time in however she has been lumped with the 60kg top weight as a result.

Damien Oliver jumps back on board and will be hoping to keep his winning record intact having ridden the five-year-old to two victories from just two attempts.

From the inside draw expect Oliver to settle her just off the speed as he will not want to get too far back in the field with the big weight.

Tigress Joy another runner from the Darren Weir stable resumed in good order at Donald last start working home well from the back to finish a close third. Remaining unbeaten at the trip she is likely to start favourite and prove very hard to beat from the gun draw.

Both Chantoozie and Talia Mia rate as solid each-way contenders with both runners coming into this affair off solid last start victories.

Good luck and happy punting.
