Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Orange, Cairns, Narrogin, Moonee Valley and Sunshine Coast Poly.

ORANGE: RACE 4 @ 2:59 PM

STARANE (3) just missed here first-up and got even closer at Scone following. The 1.5kg claim is handy and fitter he can take this out. VIOLET AND BLUE (4) seeks the hat-trick off a comfortable win at Warren. She was heavily bet again and 3x winning rider Cahill sticks aboard. She will be right in the finish with average luck in the run. CAN DO IT (6) presents third-up and is sure to show more. He'd been away for a while, and earlier in the year won a 50 here by 3.8L. BRIEF STATEMENT (1) is a local resuming in a lot easier. She's proven fresh and the 4kg claim brings her into it. The betting will be key.
SELECTIONS: Backing Starane.

CAIRNS: RACE 3 @ 3:06 PM

ZI WIN (6) won a CL3 at Townsville and then spiked his figures there when narrowly beaten in a CL6. Has 3kg weight relief and maps best. A bounce is on the cards. BOLD TYPE (1) resumes and Wiggins sticks aboard. He would have had choices, and the veteran loves it here and flies fresh. Stablemate FODOR (5) resumes and may control the race from an inside gate. Tumbles in weight this grade and also has claims. BAKERSFIELD (7) has been going well enough at the non-TABs to consider.
SELECTIONS: Zi Win appeals most.

NARROGIN: RACE 4 @ 6:05 PM

LIEN HYPHEN (2) peaks off a 1.6L defeat at Northam over a mile. Raced a short-priced favourite in that and she should be winning in country grade. SABINO (4) is better suited here than Northam last time. His two Geraldton runs prior were okay and he can improve over this distance. He should be around the mark. SHAOLIN TEMPLE (8) did a good job from the back just missing at York over 1920m. Maps for the run of the race and may go on with it now. ASARKA (6) wasn't beaten far in the same race and is going well enough to fill a slot.
SELECTIONS: Backing Lien Hyphen.

MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 5 @ 8:15 PM

PLACENTIA BAY (11) is a lightly raced type who looks very much suited rising to 2040m now, having stuck on gamely when headed at Mornington over 1600m last time. He's certainly bred to stay and the Ciaron Maher stable will have him fit for this. He'll roll forward, control the pace and should prove very hard to catch. TOMMY (1) resumed with a strong run at this track over 1519m, sticking on for fourth. His best form is right up to winning this and the rise in trip suits. ALMONTI (4) is a consistent type who has been around the mark without winning of late. He maps well here and can figure. MISHARE (9) next best off some consistent form this time in.
SELECTIONS: Placentia Bay to win.

SUNSHINE COAST POLY: RACE 6 @ 9:30 PM

PIREONTI (11) has placed around this circuit, draws low in gate two and strips fitter third-up from the spell. Ticks a few boxes. OPTIMUS MAXIMUS (4) broke the maiden status last time out and looks one at odds for the exotics. SOKUDO (9) and WAYFARER'S WAY (10) round out the selections in a race decimated by scratchings.
SELECTIONS: Pireonti to win.
