Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 20.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Newcastle, Ballarat, Eagle Farm, Canberra and Ewan.
NEWCASTLE: RACE 3 @ 2:10 PM
JUPITER HILLS (10) appreciated the step up in distance and produced the best run of her three to date when a game third after leading over this trip at Hawkesbury last start. Expect her to lead comfortably from the good gate and with Tim Clark rating her perfectly can gets the cash. MY PHAR LADY (11) was lining up for just the second time when a respectable third over this distance at Canberra recently. Open to plenty of improvement so worth some thought despite taking on a better field today. PESCHIERA (4) comes here with a couple of minor placings at Canterbury from her two runs this prep. Big weight to shoulder but that city form reads well. EXTREME DIVA (1) has contested four stakes races, finishing third to Manaal last prep in the Sweet Embrace. Big chance in this company. GOLDEN SMILE (3) is an interesting import with Kris Lees. First-up since her third on debut in May 2023. Market the best indicator.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Jupiter Hills.

BALLARAT: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM
EXTREME VIRTUE (2) is a progressive 4yo mare who resumed with a narrow win at Bendigo in a 0-64, starting favourite and proving too strong on speed. She'll likely lead here and her form last time in reads well. FAYETTA (5) was a winner at Sandown Lakeside two back before a sound third behind Federer who is odds-on in early betting at Caulfield on Saturday. Expecting that form to hold up strongly. DUVACH (1) won well fresh at Geelong and will only be fitter. She's a nice type who should go close again. BELLE INFERNO (4) was close up in fourth in this grade fresh and should be hard to hold out over this trip. SHE'S TERNACIOUS (3) is in the each-way mix.
SELECTIONS: Extreme Virtue to win.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 2 @ 1:07 PM
SEBRING GIRL (2) broke through for a well-deserved victory at the latest effort and gets some weight off from the inside marble. Rates a serious threat. CENTRESTONE (4) has won around this circuit and must be respected from the Waller barn. Top-three contender on best form. BLAZEN BOOTS (5) strips fitter second-up from the spell and may earn some minor money. SATAY CHICKEN (9) best of the rest in a race with only a handful of chances.
SELECTIONS: Sebring Girl to win.
CANBERRA: RACE 4 @ 2:35 PM
A good race. HOOLIGAN TOMMY (2) was quickly back on track winning a Scone Maiden stepping up to this trip. The gate is awkward but JVO stays aboard. Fitter again he can take the next step. ILOVENEWS (12) has threatened all three runs this preparation at the provincials. The form stacks right up and he maps for a soft on-pace run. Penza is a positive jockey booking. Neasham-Archibald-trained KAFFIR LILY (14) surprised the market when beaten just 1.3L here on debut. She impressed finishing the race off stoutly. She is sure to keep improving and Collett is a positive jockey booking. She gets off SHISUTA BO (9) who'd be a chance on her Newcastle effort two back. Maps for a soft run and keep onside.
SELECTIONS: With Hooligan Tommy.
EWAN: RACE 3 @ 2:42 PM
TYCOON LAD (3) is a former Victorian who broke through for the new barn at Cairns over 1500m. That was expected and he maps well on 6 day return. A top hoop is booked and he can go on with the job. TORQUE ESPAGNA (9) was narrowly beaten at Mackay over this distance. She's on a quick backup and a senior rider goes on. A winning chance if the rails gate is managed. VIVACIOUS AWARD (2) was outgraded at Cairns and best to assess her on the 1L defeat at Home Hill prior. That would have her in the finish. ANOTHER JACK (1) draws low today and won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: With Tycoon Lad.
