Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Canterbury, Sale, Doomben, Balaklava and Belmont Park.

CANTERBURY: RACE 3 @ 2:00 PM

BUNKER HUT (2) looks well placed back in grade. He tackled the G3 Gold Coast Guineas at Sunshine Coast last start and was only beaten 3 lengths by a very good one in Yellow Brick. Third up now, McDonald sticks, he looks hard to beat. AURINKO (7) got her maiden out of the way two back before an even effort at Randwick Kensington last start. Still on the up and is worth including at a bigger price. CONSENZA (8) resumed from a spell at Wyong and won her maiden by a long neck. She has scope to improve further and should only present fitter today. ROMEO'S CHOICE (6) is racing well. A maiden win three back has been followed up with two minor placings and he should be thereabouts again.
SELECTIONS: Bunker Hut to win.

SALE: RACE 6 @ 3:20 PM

FLYING BASIL (1) spiked his figures at Bairnsdale spacing the 58 graders at this distance from the front He'd been competing in stronger city races and 3kg claim. remains handy He's sure to prove hard to catch. SOUND OF CANNONS (3) was plain on the heavy at Cranbourne but the city run prior stacks up. Drops back 400m but is fitter and an improved surface will suit. BARONOVA (2) is a former West Australian who switched to the premier barn and needed the first-up run at 2000m. Tipping she has the ability and look for her late. ALEXANDER HAMILTON (9) is good enough to cause an upset and HIGHLAND HILL (8) is sure to be prominent.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Flying Basil.

DOOMBEN: RACE 7 @ 4:03 PM

VILLADEN (10) resumes and is a fresh winner. Returns north of the border after proving very competitive in Sydney last campaign. Booking of James Orman a big push for his chances. The one to beat. A CALL FROM HEAVEN (2) dug deep to get the verdict in this grade at Ipswich a fortnight ago. Drawn to enjoy a nice run just off the speed and gets in well at the weights with the 3kg claimer engaged. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run. NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP (12) has been racing in solid order this prep, tacking G2 company last start in the Queensland Guineas. Has his share of talent and should be considered. Also hard to ignore the form of HOT PROFIT (11) who's scored two on the bounce. Have to consider.
SELECTIONS: Backing Villaden to win.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 2 @ 1:20 PM

FORTIS IN ARMIS (6) disappointed at Warrnambool but was narrowly beaten both sides of that. He draws well and is on a 3-day return. The one to beat if he takes his place. POMODORO (3) resumed here and needed the run. Needs this trip now and has plenty up the sleeve. Has the winkers on again and quick improvement is likely. DELAYED ACTION (5) didn't have the best of it here the latest but improved the one prior also at this track. The mile will suit and he's a hope with Pannell sticking. GO DEREK (1) debuted in the market and things didn't work out. The blinkers go on today and he has the rail. In a top barn and monitor the betting closely.
SELECTIONS: Fortis In Armis appeals.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 4 @ 2:29 PM

FASHION STAKES (9) started favourite fresh up at Pinjarra but failed to flatter after looming up in the home straight. It could have been the wet track that upset her that day and back on a firmer surface she is worth another chance. She will also strip fitter so follow your money. THE COLLECTOR (4) looked to be building nicely prior to his last start effort at Northam where he finished well back. The mile may have been beyond him on that occasion and dropping back a furlong may be more his go at the moment. William Pike steps into the irons and the pair merit healthy respect. LOOK HERE PUNK (2) has been placed in seven of his eleven starts and was within a length of the winner when running second fresh up at Albany ten days ago. He certainly deserves a winning turn. GREAT DEMON (6) finished runner up in his only trial this year and he should be primed for a big run on debut. Follow any positive market moves.
SELECTIONS: Fashion Stakes to win.
