Top Knight The One

The Michael Clements trained Top Knight is clearly trending the right way and should prove hard to beat in the sixth event at Singapore this evening.

An eye catcher two back behind Our Pinnacle, Top Knight went on to space his rivals over the mile last start when far too good.

Ridden by Placais, Top Knight asserted his authority late, as while it looked an open race passing the 200m, he really stretched out late to score by 2L.

Successful in returning a new career peak, he is a 3YO heading the right way and has since trialled well in the lead up.

Given 26 days between runs, Top Knight has again drawn to receive all the favours and while stepping up in grade, he certainly gets his chance at the weights.

Unlike a majority of his rivals, he is yet to reach his theoretical ceiling and there certainly appears to be more in store.

When combined with the Clements stable, Placais is striking at 27%, hence you must always respect when the pair link together.

Although it’s never easy to keep raising the bar in your first preparation, Top Knight appears more than capable of bucking the trend.

He doesn’t strike an overly strong Class 3 event and he should prove hard to beat.

The Stephen Burridge trained Moritz Eclipse won well last start and only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again.

Although admittedly on trial at the trip, he gives the impression it will suit and much like Top Knight he has drawn to receive all the favours.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he gets his chance, especially with the added aid of the claim.

The Mark Walker trained Prince Pegasus hasn’t been disgraced in two runs this time in and should be right at his peak racing third up.

He has placed in two of four attempts over the mile and Duric appears a key booking from the rails draw.

On best form he is certainly more than capable and has to be included in the main chances.

Of the rest the Shane Baertschiger trained Galileo’s Approach appears the next in line.

He has placed in seven of his last 13 starts and cannot be taken lightly with Grylls aboard.

Good luck and happy punting.
