More Than Brave Up For The Fight

More Than Brave has been good in both runs this campaign and is well placed to make it two wins in a row when stepping out at Canterbury today (1250m).

More Than Brave Picture: Racing and Sports

The four-year-old mare resumed at this C/D when running a narrow third behind Pillow Talk after being caught wide before going on to win at Randwick last start over 1100m.

The John O’Shea-trained runner will be fitter again here and has shown enough in recent times to suggest she will take some beating in this.

James McDonald goes back on board and from barrier 5 expect the daughter of More Than Ready to settle off the pace and back up to 1250m will not pose a problem.

The recent form of More Than Brave rates well on weight adjusted Timeform ratings and has produced a win and third placing from two runs at the course.

Chiaroscuro has been a touch disappointing in two runs this campaign but returns to Canterbury where he has had the one start for a win.

Finished midfield when resuming at Warwick Farm but was only 0.8L away on that occasion before leading throughout at Randwick over 1400m before fading late for sixth.

The Peter-Snowden-trained runner drops back to the 1250m today where he has a good record and from the awkward gate may have to push forward again.

Certainly has ability on his day however and is likely to be somewhere in the finish if he can find some form.

Kanjistar who has been very consistent this preparation also finds himself in a winnable race after running well for fifth at this course last start.

Did not have a great deal of luck on that occasion but has shown enough in four runs this campaign to suggest he is in the mix today.

Apprentice jockey Lester Grace (2kg) goes on board for the first time and with now 56.5kg to carry will roll forward from the wide draw and take plenty of running down.

Pro Consul also rates a mention on the back of some handy for of late. Finished runner up behind Shelford at Randwick last start and tends to run well over this distance range.

Won’t be far away from the inside draw and would not be surprised to see him in the finish today once again.

Outside of these there appears to be a couple of each way chances including the resuming Duke Of Albert who won all three races last campaign.

Up in the weights today but gets a much needed 3kg claim and must be considered in this.

Masterstroke has also been very consistent of late and was last seen when third over 1200m at Randwick.

Having his eighth start this campaign and perhaps doesn't possess the upside of some of his key rivals but is worth some consideration here.
