Resuming in fine order at Horsham last start, Gottino continued his impeccable fresh record when scoring a comfortable one- and-three-quarter length victory at Horsham after racing up on the speed over 1400m.

While his second up record may not read as impressive, since joining the Ken Moore stable in February this year, he has only raced second up once and on that occasion he recorded a dominant three-and-a-half length victory at Bendigo.

With rain circulating around Ballarat today it is bound to suit the son of Johar given he has placed in four of five attempts on rain affected tracks.

Rising two kilograms on his last victory is a slight query however he has drawn well on the inside and shouldn't have to use much petrol to settle up near the speed. Given he has never missed the money at this track expect this former New Zealander to be very hard to beat.

One of the more interesting races on the Ballarat card, Gottino will be joined by former New Zealanders Angelology and Micken with both gallopers making their Australian debuts for the Kevin Myers stable.

Angelology resumes in this off a six month spell following his three-year-old campaign which netted a 10th placing in the NZ Derby.

Whilst it is sometimes hard to line up form from New Zealand, Angelology ran a Timeform figure of 87 when he collected back to back wins at Riccarton Park last preparation.

Considering Gottino recorded a Timeform figure of 83 when saluting in similar company last start it looks to have in good stead heading into this event.

Micken also trained by Kevin Myers makes his Australian debut in this after he was beaten a nose at Riccarton Park prior to making the trip across the ditch.

A lightly raced son of Darci Brahma, Micken proved ultra consistent in New Zealand having placed in seven of his eleven career starts.

With six of those placings coming on rain affected tracks expect him to relish the sight of any rain heading into today's event.

Drawn well on the inside expect Linda Meech to settle him up near the speed and expect him to give a bold sight.

A race with a number of leading chances both Gogonski and Cosentino present strong winning claims.

Good luck and happy punting.
