Tough Love At Canterbury

It looks a particularly even day at Canterbury Park today including a myriad of last start winners but one of the better chances on the card looks the promising Forward Love from the Gai Waterhouse stable.

The Charge Forward filly resumes in the Hyland Race Colours Handicap which is a Benchmark 70 for fillies and mares over 1100m.

Forward Love has won two of her three fresh-up runs, including last campaign which was over 1200m at Wyong, racing on the speed throughout before kicking away to win by more than a length.

She then tackled a Class 2 over 1200m at Gosford and tried to lead throughout, there until the final stages before being run down and finishing third. That turned out an excellent form race with four subsequent winners.

Heading to Canterbury Park she drew off the track and was sent forward by Nash Rawiller, but other horses had the same idea and she endured a tough run.

After turning second she had little left for the run home and weakened to finish 10th.

Back in distance to 1100m in slow ground at Warwick Farm she drew better and was able to sit just off the speed.

Turning fourth she worked home strongly with her 59kg to finish a nose second.

Last start before a spell, over 1200m in tougher grade at Randwick, she was ridden up to lead and was there until the turn but weakened to finish at the tail.

She was vetted and immediately spelled.

The filly has had a good break but recently has been tuned up with two winning trials.

The latest was by six lengths over 1050m at Randwick so she looks well and truly ready for today's race.

The filly handles the soft ground and drops in grade on her latest effort.

Although awkwardly drawn there is a fair bit of pace engaged here so she should be able to slot in just off the lead.

Her best form looks good enough for this race and on her two trial wins she should give a big sight.

The Grahame Begg-trained United Harmony was an impressive last start winner here and looks hard to hold out.

The mare, with a very honest record, resumed here over 1100m in heavy ground and after settling just off the speed was a little one paced in the straight, finishing fifth.

Last start, again here over 1100m, she was ridden out the back and was there throughout before charging home to score by over a length.

Today's good speed will help her chances and she has drawn to immediately drop into a good spot on the inside.

From there she might need a little luck but with a good record at the course and distance and in soft ground she'll be charging late with clear running.

Isola has finished runner-up at both runs this time in and will also be hitting the line hard.

The mare resumed over 1200m at Warwick Farm and ran on form the tail to finish second, before stepping up to 1300m on the Kensington track at Randwick.

There she again got back but ran on well to just miss.

Although up in the weights here she will appreciate the good pace and with the two good runs under her belt looks ready to win.

Radar has raced only three times but ran a career worst last time so was given a good break.

She did run well here on debut on soft ground, though, and can come back with a good run fresh.

Arabica is an on-pace horse racing in good style at the moment and from a good gate will give a sight.
