American import Success Express retired from active stud duty five years ago but the result of last Saturday's G1 Doomben Ten Thousand was evidence of the influence he still casts over Australian racing.

Noted sire Falvelon, a dual winner of the Doomben10,000, did not have a runner in the 2012 renewal of the G1 event last Saturday but achieved consolation when his son Excellantes enhanced his rising stature as a sprinter with a Listed victory on the program in the Chief De Beers Handicap.
