Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 10th & 12th August

Preditor has come from well back in the field to claim the Group 3 Jumbo Jet Trophy (1400m) at Kranji on Sunday.

With Hong Kong apprentice jockey of the year Matthew Poon on board, Preditor settled well back in the field for much of the race and was still thirteenth coming to the turn.

Initially unable to find a way through the field, Poon eventually found clean air on board the Shane Baertschiger-trained runner at the 250m, running on strongly to claim a narrow victory over Debt Collector in second with Circuit Land third.

In what was his seventh career win, the six-year-old entire ran to a Timeform figure of 101, the same as his previous effort when fourth in a Kranji Stakes A over this C/D.

Preditor ran six pounds below 2017 winner Countofmontecristo with arguably the run of the race coming from Debt Collector who won this race in 2016 before finishing runner up last year.

With the 58kg, Debt Collector returned a Timeform figure of 111 in what was his first up effort this campaign and is certainly one to keep an eye on going forward this preparation.

Circuit Land was also good in third beaten under a length, running to 105 as did Clarton Super in fourth.

The race prior saw Noah From Goa bounce back to win the Kranji Stakes A (1800m) following a lacklustre Singapore debut the start prior.

The South African Group 1 winner appreciated the step up in trip to lead all the way and win by just over a length from Makanani in second with Song To The Moon third.

In what was his first career win over 1800m, Noah From Goa ran to a Timeform figure of 101, well above his first up figure of 81 but still nowhere near his peak form in South Africa and Meydan.

With potentially more improvement to come the Ricardo Le Grange-trained runner appears to have a bright future in Singapore going forward.

On Friday night Tesoro Privado proved too good for his rivals when taking out the Kranji Stakes C (1600m), his second win in a row.

Settling up on the speed, the Lee Freedman-trained runner came under siege over the final 300m but did enough to hold on for a narrow win over Supernova in second with Mr Dujardin third.

Tesoro Privado ran to a Timeform figure of 90 the same as his previous start win and slightly below the 93 he ran to when fourth in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas.
