California's favourite horse obliged his loyal fans at Del Mar winning the Gr 1 Bing Crosby for the second year running.

This was his 6th consecutive win and he has won 13 of his last 14 starts and seldom missing the frame in the few starts he hasn't won.  He's basically a California Horse, trained by 71 yo Eric Kruljac and it's hard to know which is the most laid back – horse or trainer.  He's earned nearly US$ 1.5 millions so that should keep him in carrots for the rest of his days.  He will now head to the Breeders' Cup sprint and he's pulled up fine after the race.

For the record Closethegame Sugar was second and Jackstown third.

Earlier Dr Venkman won the San Diego Handicap with Katonah second and Express Train third.  Favourite Arabian Knight was fourth.

Over at Saratoga the Jim Dandy saw Fierceness put up a great fight to get the better of Sierra Leone and compensate owner Mike Repole for scratching him from the Haskell.

Batten Down took third spot ahead of Seize the Grey in a 6 horse race.

Earlier Nakatomi got the better of Skelly in the Vanderbilt and on Sunday Ilver Knott secured the Bowling Green with Strong Tide 15/1 second.
