The PJA (Professional Jockeys Association) have announced they will be lodging an appeal on behalf of Callum Shepherd, following his eighteen day suspension for the ride aboard David Simcock's Thorntonledale Max. Stewards decided that Shepherd had failed "to take all reasonable and permissible measures on a horse which would have finished outright first" when dead-heading at Kempton last week. The suspension covers 4-21 September, which would rule the jockey out of the St Leger and Ayr Gold Cup meetings.

A win in the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes has seen Aidan O'Brien's City Of Troy extend his lead in the standings for Cartier Horse Of The Year and the Cartier Three-Year-Old Colt awards. The Epsom hero acquired points for both his victories in the Derby and  the Group 1 Eclipse Stakes, pulling clear of nearest rivals Charyn and Mqse De Sevigne. The Cartier Sprinter division remains wide-open with Nunthorpe victor Bradsell, Believing, Asfoora and Big Evs all in the mix.

Fans of the Racing League are eagerly awaiting the finale of the series on Thursday at Southwell, where three teams remain in contention for the top spot – Wales & The West, London & The South and The East. Wales & The West is currently heading the standings with 689.5 points, with London & The South in second by 41.5 points and The East back in third by 63.5 points. The leading jockey award remains open with Saffie Osborne, Danny Muscutt and Billy Loughnane all in the hunt.
