Groenewegen To Break Through

An encouraging return leaves the Cliff Brown trained Groenewegen well placed to break through in the sixth event at Singapore this evening.

A model of consistency, Groenewegen may only possesses the three wins to his name, however he has placed on a further 11 occasions.

Well supported in his return ($2.60F), Groenewegen proved very game when only edged out late by the Mark Walker trained Turquoise King.

Marked narrowly below his peak, Groenewegen is clearly back in great order and remains open to sharp improvement racing second up.

In 16 attempts at this track, Groenewegen has placed in 12 and appears suited by the step up to the mile.

Leading rider Michael Rodd sticks aboard and he looks to receive all the favours from the inside draw.

In eight attempts aboard the four-year-old, Rodd has only missed the money once and was aboard for two of his three wins.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, Groenewegen appears well placed and if up to his best, he shapes as one of the hardest to beat.

Although he may be considered a non-winner, he finds a very suitable race and is sure to make his presence felt.

The Alvin Tan trained Chase has been rock solid in three starts this time in and should be right at his peak racing fourth up.

A winner of four of his 23 starts, Chase comes into this off the back of an eye catching run, when finishing fifth behind Mr Scorsese.

Settled well back, Chase made up good ground and with Beasley sticking aboard, he looms as a major threat.

No question he will need the speed on up front, however he is certainly more than capable and has to be kept safe.

The Laurie Laxon trained Mr Scorsese is clearly back in great order and while rising at the weights he still commands respect.

Once highly touted, Mr Scorsese now appears back on track, having dominated his rivals under similar circumstances last start.

Only lightly raced, he remains open to further improvement and from the good draw he looms as a major threat.

Of the rest, last start winner Turquoise King appears the next in line.

Clearly appreciating the drop back in trip, Turquoise King was too strong late for Groenewegen and only has to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again.

Despite yet to win at a mile, Duric sticks and he cannot be taken lightly.

Good luck and happy punting.
