Nova Swiss To Win Again

Emerging sprinter Nova Swiss continues to raise the bar and appears well placed to clinch his fourth straight win in the fifth event at Singapore this evening.

Having turned plenty of heads in his Singapore debut, Nova Swiss has since notched up the hat-trick by a combined margin of 11L.

Formerly based in New Zealand the son of Swiss Ace displayed good ability in his five starts and has clearly brought his best form across to Singapore.

Now under the care of Alvin Tan, Nova Swiss has continued to raise the bar with his latest performance simply electric, despite rising in grade.

After only jumping fairly from the middle draw, Nova Swiss recovered to settle third, though caught three-wide.

Travelling strongly under regular rider Manoel Nunes, Nova Swiss pulled his way to the front inside the 400m before dropping his rivals passing the 200m.

Displaying a very sharp turn of foot, Nova Swiss left his rivals standing still drawing away to score by three-and-a-half lengths.

While visually very impressive, the clock also backed up the strength of his performance.

Nova Swiss' last 400m was marked 2L superior to his nearest rival and 4L faster than race leader and eventual third placegetter Super Six.

The acceleration he displayed was first class and the future is certainly bright for this son of Swiss Ace.

In three starts in Singapore, Nova Swiss has improved 11 pounds and has also returned very slick time figures.

On raw times only Spalato has gone faster over 1000m this year, recording 57.93 seconds back in February (14/02).

To place that into perspective, since 2008 only three horses have been recorded faster than Spalato, which highlights just how impressive Nova Swiss' performance was last start.

His effort to be marked just under three lengths slower than Spalato highlights his raw ability and given he is still only lightly raced, more wins certainly appear in store.

The step up to 1200m is a slight query, however give the way he finished off his last start it should post no concerns.

Admittedly this is another step, however all indications suggest Nova Swiss is more than capable of rising to the occasion.

Leading rider Manoel Nunes sticks aboard and from the favourable draw he is sure to be very hard to beat.

The James Peters trained A La Victory showed good improvement behind Storm Troops last start and looms as a major threat racing third up.

A winner of six of his 22 starts, A La Victory has placed in four of five attempts over this trip and rates highly on best form.

A La Victory has only missed the money once racing third up and has placed in nine of 13 attempts with Corey Brown aboard — from the wide draw Brown has options as A La Victory is quite adaptable.

The James Peters stable is in good form and A La Victory has to be respected.

The Shane Baertschiger trained Mycaptainoblivious is forced to give weight away, however he will appreciate the drop back in grade and have to respect his class.

In 14 attempts at this track he has placed in nine and rates highly on his effort behind My Lucky Strike last start.

From the good draw he is expected to take up the running and should prove hard to get past.

Of the rest Pioneer Seven appears the next in line as while mixing his form, he is certainly capable when right.

His two trials in the lead up have been solid and he is a noted performer at this course and distance - don't take lightly.

Good luck and happy punting.
