Royal Ruler To Bounce Back

Promising four-year-old Royal Ruler appears set to bounce back from his disappointing display last start and make amends in the final event at Singapore this evening.

Failing to justify his short odds behind Iking last start, Royal Ruler has since trialled well and given Vorster felt he wasn't striding out freely on that occasion, he is worth another chance.

Only lightly raced Royal Ruler returned in great order two back when sticking on solidly to finish second behind Roselli.

Beaten less than a length on that occasion, he rates highly off the back of that performance and should be closing on his peak racing third up.

A winner of two of eight starts, he has placed on a further four occasions and looks to have a bit in hand on his rivals on best form.

The return to the polytrack looks set to aid his chances (placed 3/3) and he has placed in five of seven attempts over this trip.

Although drawn a touch awkwardly he should possess enough early speed to negate this hindrance.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings Royal Ruler rates clear on his effort two back and a return to that level of performance sees him set a decent standard.

While quite the competitive affair on best form he does appear a level above his rivals and should prove hard to beat with Vorster in the saddle (placed 5/6).

The Shane Baertschiger trained Jelly Bean has been a model of consistency in recent efforts and looms as a major threat despite the wide draw.

Placed in six of seven career starts to this point, Jelly Bean has finished second at her last two starts and is clearly in good form for the Baertschiger camp.

In five attempts at this track she is yet to miss the money and has notably placed in all four attempts over this trip.

Unsuited by the slow tempo last start she was notably a sectional star when working home powerfully late behind You Da One.

Although somewhat a non-winner she is clearly capable on best form and will no doubt be charging home late.

John Powell sticks aboard and if fortunate enough to get the speed on upfront she shapes as one of the hardest to beat.

Topweight Host The Nation is another galloper racing in good form and has to be respected despite only possessing three wins to his name from 41 starts.

His last two attempts at this course and distance have seen him narrowly beaten on both occasions and if able to hold that form, he is expected to be right around the mark.

Oscar Chavez continues his association with the six-year-old and has notably placed in 7/10 attempts aboard the six-year-old.

From the inside draw he is likely to settle just off-midfield and much like Jelly Bean he is expected to be working home strongly late.

Of the rest the Mark Walker trained En Civil remains under strong notice having formerly being trained in Hong Kong.

From 15 starts he possesses just the sole victory to his name however at his best he measures right up and with two recent trials under his belt he should be forward enough to sprint well fresh.

It will be very interesting to see how the market assesses his chances.

Good luck and happy punting.
