Snitzel Has The Spirit

The in-form combination of Corey Brown and Michael Freedman appears set to strike again with Snitzel Spirit well placed in the seventh event at Singapore this evening.

In what is clearly the stand-out race on the card, Snitzel Spirit chases back to back wins following an impressive performance last start.

Although racing in good form, the son of Snitzel was unable to break through in his three starts to begin this preparation.

Only narrowly beaten second up, Snitzel Spirit proved a sectional star behind Media Captain when he was simply set too great a task from the wide draw.

Ridden closer to the speed over the longer journey last start, the three-year-old duly saluted and recorded a new career peak in the process.

Unbeaten in two attempts over 1400m, Snitzel Spirit has only missed the money once in his short career and is clearly heading in the right direction.

This season Corey Brown is riding in good form and is striking at 21 per cent with the Freedman stable.

Notably Brown has placed in 19 of his last 25 rides aboard favourites, including nine wins — aboard Snitzel Spirit he has placed on three of four occasions including the last start victory.

With little separating the main contenders on Timeform weight adjusted ratings, the speed map helps to swing the race firmly in Snitzel Spirit's favour.

From the middle draw Brown appears to get a lovely run just off the speed with Elusive Emperor likely to press forward from the rails draw.

On his last start victory he is expected to improve between four and five pounds and sets a good standard for his rivals.

The Desmond Koh trained Reach For The Sun displayed good improvement last start and appears set to peak racing third up.

Having only been narrowly beaten last start, Reach For The Sun has since trialled in good order and is yet to miss the money over this trip.

Jockey Benny Woodworth sticks aboard having placed in both prior attempts and he too should enjoy a lovely run in transit from the inside draw.

Although he possesses just the three victories to his name, he has placed on a further 10 occasions and is rarely far away.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings he measures right up on best form and looms as a major threat.

The Mark Walker trained Aspen really caught the eye first up and with further improvement expected he has to be kept safe.

Outpaced early, Aspen settled towards the tail of the field before peeling to the centre and working home strongly in the straight.

While safely held, his closing sectionals were very strong and he appears set to relish the step up to 1400m.

Another galloper who hasn't done a lot of winning, however his form through the likes of Lim's Rally and Fraajilistic places him in good stead.

From the awkward draw he is likely to settle back in the field and while there doesn't appear to be a lot of speed engaged, expect him to be hitting the line hard late.

Of the rest both Stirling and Elusive Emperor appear the next best.

The former didn't have the best of luck last start and gives the impression he will be better suited stepping up to 1400m.

A winner of three of his eight starts, Stirling has always displayed good ability and must be included in the main chances.

Elusive Emperor was simply outclassed behind Affleck last start, however he is far better placed in this affair and should give plenty of cheek racing up on the speed.

Good luck and happy punting.
