Seed Of Speed Plants Himself On Poly

A switch to the polytrack at Kranji tonight could pay immediate dividends for the Michael Freedman-trained Seed Of Speed.

Seed Of Speed has had three runs since coming up to Singapore from New Zealand where he was trained by Donna and Dean Logan.

There he put together a promising record, winning five of his seventeen starts, and he has looked as though he will build on that in his three starts in Singapore to date.

He has finished in close check in all three of those runs, returning his best effort in Singapore to date when stepping up to the mile last time.

There he was beaten less than two lengths, despite having to overcome a couple of traffic concerns in the run.

He rates highly for tonight on that run and from barrier nine he should be able to steer clear of any traffic.

In fact, he may just opt to roll forward and control the speed tonight from that outside gate.

He showed the ability to race on speed when trained in New Zealand and hasn't been too far away in the run in his three runs this campaign.

Going forward tonight would be a big positive for Seed Of Speed.

24.3% of leaders at the 400m mark win over the polytrack mile and 68.4% of winners come from the first four at the turn.

It's certainly the place to be and there is a spot right there with Seed Of Speed's name on it tonight.

Also worth noting is that the Freedman yard are having a good recent run of form, striking at 18% with their last 50 runners, up from an overall strike-rate of 13%.

Jockey Corey Brown is also riding well, striking at 16% in his last 50 against an overall strike-rate of 13%.

Dangers tonight are headed up by Taffetas, already a winner on the polytrack and racing in solid form of late.

His recent form measures up on Racing and Sports ratings and a key switch leaps off the page with Manoel Nunes jumping back aboard.

Nunes has ridden Taffetas twice for two wins so clearly has a good affinity with the horse.

He also has a good record with the Marsh stable, striking at 29% for the yard.

Following on the riders in form path it is worth mentioning that Danny Beasley is currently striking at a most impressive 26%, up from 17% long term.

He rides White Coffee tonight for a yard with which he strikes at 19% overall with.

White Coffee is probably lacking for upside these days but he is honest enough and has the ability to be right around the mark.

Similar could be said of Perfect Challenger.

He's been thereabouts in recent runs and his efforts rate okay for this.

He is three times a winner on the polytrack and should be around the mark again tonight.

Best of luck and happy punting.
