Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Tuesday’s meeting at Geelong.
Track: Synthetic
First race: 11.55pm
Kijitsu (Race 1) has been heavily-backed from double figure odds to suggest he is primed to make a winning return. The veteran of just one previous start when beaten more than 10 lengths, he opened as much as $15 but has been crunched in betting to a fixed quote of $4.20 and clear second favouritism.Perfectly Safe (Race 2) is one of eight debutantes in this race but the early money suggests he is the one to watch out for, firming in the best part of a point to $2.50. The son of Exceed and Excel won a Tatura barrier trial and hails from the shrewd David Hayes-Tom Dabernig yard so can be expected to be well-educated on debut.
Vanilla Ice Cream (Race 4) opened at double figure odds but good early backing has seen the filly firm into favouritism at $3.20. She returns to the all weather track today having placed at her two previous attempts on a synthetic surface and the Robert Smerdon stable is firing at present, striking at 24 per cent over the last month.Majestic Lass (Race 7) opened an odds on favourite but that hasn’t stopped punters from backing her, firming in 10 cents early to a fixed quote of $1.80. Resuming after finishing her last preparation with a close second at Caulfield, she was a Moonee Valley maiden winner when resuming last campaign.
Spiral (Race 9) opened at double figures odds but that price was quickly snapped up, the gelding grabbing favouritism at $2.80. Fourth last start on the synthetic at Pakenham, he was only beaten 3.6L at Flemington before that after breaking his maiden at Cranbourne over this distance.Get Best Tote and Fixed Odds betting at TopBetta
