The Big Mach facing his toughest assignment

Trainer-driver David Thorn believes The Big Mach is facing his toughest assignment since being purchased by the Number One Club a couple of months ago.

The Big Mach lines up in race three at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night and has drawn barrier four, with Thorn suggesting the polemarker Lady Euthenia is the hardest to beat.

“She has plenty of gate speed and is likely to lead so The Big Mach may have to do it tough and sit outside her,” Thorn said.

“Lady Euthenia will be the hardest to beat but I'm not saying we won't be able to get over the top of her, but this is definitely The Big Mach's toughest race since he's come to me.

“He worked pretty strong earlier this week though so it that tells me he will be ready to run another good race.

“I really like The Big Mach – he is tough and fast.

“I honestly believe he will make it through to free-for-all class without too many hassles.”

Debuting for the Number One Club, the NSW TAB's rewards program, a month ago, The Big Mach has been a sensation, winning all three starts since arriving from New Zealand.

Last start he ran a class record 1:54.8 for the 2300 metres in M1 company, with the mile rate just a second outside Blacks A Fake's world record for the distance.

The Number One Club have a stable of animals and each time one of them race, five members are chosen at random to be their owners for a day and share in any prizemoney won.

To date, over $76,000 in prizemoney has been shared among Number One Club members through the efforts of the stable animals, which include a handful of gallopers, pacers and a greyhound.

Galloper ready to resume for O'Shea

The Number One Club's stable galloper, She's Number One, will be trialling tomorrow at Randwick.

Engaged in an Open Trial over 740 metres, the John O'Shea-trained filly has won one of her four career starts and showed good promise at her initial campaign.

O'Shea hopes to have the daughter of Commands, which has won nearly $1,000 for Number One Club members, back at the races in the coming weeks.

Fixed Odds movers – Aurie's Star and Missile Stakes

Perturbo has maintained favourtism in the Aurie's Star at Flemington, holding firm on its opening quote of $3.20 on TAB Sportsbet.

Rekindled Interest, for trainer Jim Conlan, has been one of the early movers in betting, firming from $17 into $12.

In the Missile Stakes at Rosehill, Rain Affair opened at $2.80 but is now at $2.60 while Centennial Park has also firmed from an opening quote of $17 to be an $11 chance.
