The Chinchilla Amateur Picnic Race Club was formed on 17 November 1959. The first race meeting was held on 30 April 1960, racing for a trophy valued at 15 poundsThe club is now known as Chinchilla Race Club. The first meeting on the new grass surface track was held on 21 March 1998.
