Many runners looked for the outside fence at Randwick on Saturday which saw all nine races run on a heavy track.

Farolitoswas able to grab his second win in as many starts when claiming victory in the Shoot Out Mile (1600m) as he continues to build quite an impressive record.

Settling off the leaders for much of the race, the John O’Shea-trained runner proved too strong in the straight, running out a one and a quarter length winner over Zayam in second with Himalaya Dream third.

Farolitos ran to a new career peak of 106, six pounds above his win two starts back and he has improved at each of his four runs this campaign.

The Racing and Sports field strength value (RSFS) of 101.2 is below par for a Benchmark 92 race however Farolitos certainly looks one to follow going forward.

Zayam not to far away in second, ran to 94, his highest since winning at Randwick last year (95) with Himalaya Dream returning a figure of 92, seven pounds below his win at Rosehill two back.

Thronum still remains undefeated following a dominant win in the two-year-old handicap (1200m), leading throughout to score victory by three lengths over Morton’s Fork in second with Who Said It’s Easy third.

Having returned a Timeform figure of 86 when winning on debut at Kembla Grange over 1000m, the Gai Waterhouse-trained runner improved significantly on Saturday, running to a figure of 99.

With plenty of improvement likely to come, Thronum can continue to improve into his three-year-old season and would not be surprised to see him in Stakes company going forward.

Morton's Fork in second ran to 93, below his previous best of 99 with Who Said It’s Easy also slightly below his previous best, running to 86.

The Racing and Sports field strength value of 96.6 is around par for a two-year-old race during this time of year with all placegetters coming off solid previous form.

Burning Passion produced a terrific effort to win the Benchmark 83 Handicap (1400m) after leading throughout.

The James Cummings-trained runner produced a terrific turn of foot on the wet track to run out a three and a half length winner over Slydini in second with Powerline third.

Burning Passion returned a Timeform figure of 96, his highest since 2014 when running fifth in handy company behind the likes of Sweynesse, First Seal and Hampton Court.

Running a figure eight pounds higher than his second placing at Randwick two runs back, Burning Passion was one of the more impressive winners of the day at Randwick and looks to have a strong preparation ahead.

Slydini was much improved in second running to 83 with Powerline running well with the 59kg in third to return a figure of 98 and continues his consistent recent form.

Horses to follow: Farolitos, Thronum, Burning Passion, Powerline, Arise Augustus.
