Adelaide midfielder Rory Sloane says the prospect of a premiership led him to sign a three-year contract extension with his AFL club.
Budding midfielder Rory Sloane says the lure of a premiership led him to sign a three-year AFL contract extension with Adelaide.
Sloane follows Patrick Dangerfield in remaining at the Crows, with key forward Kurt Tippett also soon expected to re-sign.
Adelaide have also recently locked away onballer Richard Douglas, Matthew Jaensch, Jared Petrenko and Brodie Smith on new deals.
"The environment around here at the moment, and the team we have got - who would want to leave really, is more the point," Sloane told reporters on Monday.
The 22-year-old believed the Crows, entering their bye with an eight-two win-loss record, were primed for success.
"As long as we can keep everyone together, I think we're going to have some great success," he said, adding "hopefully in the not too distant future".
The emergence of Victorian-born pair Sloane and Dangerfield as top-shelf midfielders has helped Adelaide rise to third after finishing 14th last season.
Both were promoted to Adelaide's leadership group pre-season, but Sloane said they didn't discuss their respective contract negotiations.
"I'm pretty close with Patty and I never really knew what he was going to do," he said.
"Once he did sign, I had a good chat to him about the way we want to build the team over the next couple of years.
"We're still a young side building ... all we want to do now is focus on the next few years, and especially this year.
"I definitely didn't think we'd be eight and two ... I have just loved the way we have attacked the footy and the style of footy we're playing is just a tough brand of football."
