American DevilL (Eric Libaud/Pierre-Charles Boudot) ran out an easy winner to leave his new trainer dreaming of Royal Ascot.
Boudot was able to take up a perfect stalking position behind Sommerabend and, once the German challenger had seen off Thawaany, it was just a matter of when he said go on American Devil.
Having landed the Prince of Wales's Stakes with Vision D'Etat, Libaud is no stranger to the meeting and will now prepare to drop the son of American Post back in trip for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
When asked if he was worried that American Devil had been keen early, Libaud replied simply: "Its because he has so much speed. The logical place for a horse like him is Ascot over 1,200 metres and that is where he will go."
Libaud was also quick to pay tribute to Jon Van Handenhove, who trained American Devil up until the end of last year.
"I am just continuing on the excellent work that has made him the horse he is," he said.
American Devil is a best-priced 33-1 for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
