The Chris Waller trained mare Arinosa has made an ideal start to her autumn winning the Listed Wenona Girl Quality (1200m) at Warwick Farm.
The race panned out ideally for the grey mare Arinosa as she settled back off a solid tempo set by front-runners Mickelberg, Embark and Cathay Lady.
Embark and Cathay Lady took over heading for home with the well-supported favourite Choice Words getting clear and shaping up as the one but when Arinosa balanced up and hit top stride she powered over the top of them winning with a bit to spare on the line.
Choice Words fought on for second with Ladys Angel taking third from Cathay Lady.
The win was a first stakes-success for the daughter of Dash For Cash and the stable is now set to raise the bar with her going into the autumn.
“I wasn't expecting her to win,” said trainer Chris Waller.
“There was a restricted race that we were looking at with her but now we'll be looking a bit higher than that.
“We'll slowly work towards the Randwick Carnival where I think there is a couple of races for her.”
