Treaty beat home stablemate Extra for a comfortable salute in the Two-year-old No-metro-win Handicap (1200m) at Gosford before Dispatch proved too strong in the open juvenile race at Kilmore.

Dispatch let Tony Vasil's Under The Leaner set the early pace before looming up down the straight in atrocious winter weather conditions, and burning past in the final furlong to just get the better of Tampere in a bobbing finish.

Snowden's Gosford winner was much more impressive – he sat just off the speed for most of the trip, hit the lead 250m from home and was never troubled. Extra tried hard to reel in his stablemate but it was all in vain.

“They both raced well, they had every chance but they went good,” stable representative Paul Reid said.

“It helped being on the fence, he had something to follow and it worked out nice.

“Treaty looked he was going to beat him [Extra] easy, but he fought back and it was a nice run.”

The win continued jockey Hugh Bowman's rich vein of recent form and extended his lead in the NSW metro jockeys' standings.

“He drew the good gate and the instructions were to just find a bit of cover so that wasn't too difficult from barrier one,” Bowman said.

“He travelled well and he was obviously a little bit more comfortable on this ground. It was pretty wet at Canterbury when he raced the other day and he didn't look comfortable on it and that could've been the difference.

“I noticed he got the wanders a bit and it was probably the ground more than anything. I didn't want to wait for the favourite to sprint before I got out after him and the horse showed a really nice turn of foot.

“He star-gazed a bit in front I think so he'll improve again on that.”

Bowman finished second in the first race aboard Manzanita, then secured a winning double in the third with a strong win on Mohtashem.
