Rosehill Suspensions For Oliver And Avdulla

Champion Melbourne jockey Damien Oliver and Sydney rider Brenton Avdulla will miss the Derby meeting at Randwick on April 14 after copping careless riding suspensions at Rosehill on Saturday.

Both riders will begin 10 day suspensions after next Saturday's Golden Slipper meeting and will be free to resume riding on April 19.

Avdulla indicated he would appeal but is still free to continue his association with Doncaster favourite Secret Admirer when she runs at Rosehill next Saturday.

Oliver pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding on Collect in the Pago Pago Stakes while Avdulla was found guilty of careless riding aboard Kneeling in the Darby Munro Stakes.

Oliver was found to have allowed Collect to shift in when insufficiently clear of Pure Hustle near the 800m while over racing.

As a result Pure Hustle was taken in onto Limes which in turn caused Fob Dubai and Pure Hustle to be checked.

Avdulla, was found guilty of permitting Kneeling to shift in near 600m, resulting in Al's Magic Miss being taken in onto Sacred Pins, which was checked and taken in across the running of Famous Seamus, which was also checked.

In this incident Unpretentious, which was following, was severely checked when taken out across the heels of Upstacker, resulting in Subarc and Aerobatics being hampered.

At Moonee Valley Jake Noonan was suspended. For seven meetings and can resume riding on April 8.

Noonan will miss next Saturday's Easter Cup and Victoria Handicap at Caulfield.

Stewards found that he shifted out near the 200m aboard Plucky Belle in the Construction Engineering Hcp when insufficiently clear of Fortune Of War.

Noonan applied to be released from his six rides at Sale on Sunday so that he could be back to ride at Mornington next Sunday for his father and master Tony Noonan.

The Mornington meeting features the $100,000 Galilee Series Final.
