Mick Price believes Dubleanny's outstanding record of seven wins from 11 starts at 1200m stands her in good stead on Saturday.
Mick Price is happy with his decision to run Dubleanny against her own sex at Caulfield on Saturday rather than in Group One company a week later.
The five-year-old's outstanding record of seven wins from 11 starts at 1200 metres influenced Price to send her around in the Group Three Sportingbet Series.
The Caulfield trainer said he was confident the decision to bypass next week's Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) with Dubleanny was the right one.
"She's in her right race. Her best form has been at Flemington where she has won six races, but she's won at Caulfield before," Price said referring to her win over Doubtful Jack and Saturday's rival Miss Octopussy in May last year.
"I didn't want to run her in the Rupert Clarke. We weren't brave enough for that one.
"We're going for the Group Three mares and she's going to be pretty competitive."
Dubleanny resumed with a seventh, beaten only 1-1/2 lengths, behind another of Saturday's rivals Lone Rock in the Group Three Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on September 3.
"She's a good worker and I'm very happy with her and she'll improve fitness-wise from her run down the straight too," Price said.
"She's down in grade and up in fitness and hopefully we strike a blow."
A three-time Listed winner, Dubleanny was runner-up to Set For Fame in the Group Two Caulfield Sprint (1100m) on Caulfield Cup Day last spring.
Craig Newitt will ride Dubleanny who drew out in barrier 14 in the 16-horse field.
Michael Rodd is confident last year's winner Valentine Miss can pull off back-to-back wins in the race.
Valentine Miss has been kept fresh since her first up third to Uxorious in the Group Three Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on August 6.
"She's a ripper. She's coming along really well. She's had a couple of jumps out recently and she'll go really well fresh," Rodd said of the Mark Kavanagh-trained six-year-old who drew barrier 11.
"She's super honest, she always puts in one hundred per cent. She's only a little mare but you can guarantee that she'll step out there and do her best for us."
Sister Madly is the $4.20 favourite with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Lone Rock at $5.50, Miss Octopussy at $7, Valentine Miss at $8, Avenue at $9 and Dubleanny at $9.50.
