MARKET MOVES ROYAL ASCOT DAY THREE - 2011

Let's look at the major market moves for Day Three at Royal Ascot.

We'll give you a bit of run down as to who is being backed at the time of publication with the TAB.

DAY THREE – 16 JUNE 2011

Day Two Betting Highlights saw a big day for the bookies with double figure odds abounding. When both So You Think and Shumoos went under you know who would be on top.

Race 1: The Norfolk Stks (G2)

('10 winner Approve 16-1)

A roughie won this last year and the big field might lend itself to happening again. Bapak Chinta has only had one start but it was a 3L win over a recent Ascot winner so the $5 might be value. Everyday Dave comes from America but bolted in when running in France before heading over. $5 about a high draw horse might help. Hannon and Hughes have won the first race first two days so Crown Dependency at $7 looks interesting. There's been a move at big odds for Marcus Augustus ($81 to $41).

Race 2: The Ribblesdale Stks (G2)

('10 winner Hibaayeb 4-1f)

Known as the Ascot Oaks, it seems open. Banimpire won a G3 race at Cork as her lead up and she was impressive in doing so. She is the current $3.50 favourite. Close by is Rumh for Godolphin and after Rewilding they will be on a high. This one hasn't run at the trip before so you take $4.40 to find out. It will be interesting to see if Zain Al Boldan can lift back up to her Oaks Trial win at Lingfield. She was nowhere near as good in the Oaks itself and so $8.50 is available.

Race 3: The Gold Cup (G1)

('10 winner Rite Of Passage 20-1)

Decent sized field in the Cup but sadly we lost the defending champ last week. Aidan will be trying to get a major on the board with his stayer Fame And Glory. He hasn't been super impressive in winning twice this prep but he was 5th in the Arc. He is out to $3.20 if he gets the trip for the first time. The fascinating entrant is Geordieland ($21). He has not started since September 2009 but he is a multiple placegetter in the Gold Cup behind Yeats and goes first up at 4000m. One at odds might be Kasbah Bliss. At $17 he has run well twice in the Cadran in Arc weekend so you know the trip is OK. Some money for a runner Aussies know well into $9. Holberg was 6th in the Melbourne Cup.

Race 4: The Brittannia Stks (Heritage Hcp)

('10 winner Ransom Note 9-1)

The Brittannia is a lottery. Sagramor is the current elect at $8 after he won a very decent handicap at Haydock Park. But he will have challengers from the likes of Belgian Bill ($9) who won first up. He is by Exceed And Excel. Another Hannon could be value in the form of Chain Lightning ($14). Rain would not hurt his chances.

2.00am AEST

Race 5: The Hampton Court Stks (Listed)

('10 winner Afsare 9-4f)

This seems a three horse race if the betting is anything to go by. Marksmanship ($5) was a good winner for Coolmore in a maiden so just needs to translate that here but is bred to do so. Another near it in the market is Tazahum in the famous Blue and White colours of Sheikh Hamdan. The Redoute's Choice colt comes of back to back wins. The other won is Alkimos for Luca Cumani. This High Chaparral colt keeps improving in the ratings off two solid wins. $6 might be value.

Race 6: The King George V Stks (Heritage Hcp)

('10 winner Dandino 7-1)

This 2400m race is fairly open with many given a hope. Census for Highclere was first up and won easily at Newbury. He looks to be a decent stayer and is $5.50. Apache bolted in with a maiden at Leopardstown and gives Joseph O'Brien a chance to win at Ascot. The price for him is $6.50. Watch out for John Gosden's Purification ($7) who brings in similar form lines from a Windsor win.
