Next stop for the best 3YO in the country, Catalyst ,is Riccarton and the NZ Two Thousand Guineas after toying with his opposition here, racking up four wins on the trot, the last three all black-type.

He settled three wide midfield early but before leaving the back straight jockey Troy Harris took the initiative and rushed forward, taking over the lead starting the bend.

Out by a length past the 500m he turned for home going comfortably, slipped them from the top of the straight and had no real challenges to the line, with Harris looking over his shoulder to see a procession taking place.

This was simply too easy. Callsign Mav moved up to second inside the 800m, tracked the winner into the straight but was left standing after that, yet easily second, some seven lengths in front of a good line up for third.

Aotea Lad sat seventh, one out, past the 600m, was making no impression turning in but was doing his best work late for a distant third from Riva Capri who kept on gamely in the straight was a nose back in fourth.
