Melody Belle wins 2018 Mongolian Khan Trophy Group 3 NZ$70,000 at Ellerslie (NZ), 1200m.
The winner of the Karaka Million twelve months ago, Melody Belle returned to the scene with an easy win, clearing out over the last 150m in impressive style, her fifth win in ten starts for earnings exceeding $900,000.
Rider Opie Bosson positioned her beautifully in fourth (rails) at the 600m, improved to third just before the home straight but was cantering. Bosson pulled out three wide, balanced her up and put the race away past the 200m, racing clear to win as she liked.
Astor was midfield (rails) before straightening, improved quickly and ran home very well while no match for the winner for a distant second.
Gift Of Power was second into the straight and battled away doggedly to hold third from Ladynadel who lunged into fourth short of the line.
