Cantbuybetter wins 2017 Green Options Racing Pty Ltd Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1600m.
Cantbuybetter made it nine wins (second Listed stakes win) from 28 starts with a dashing rails finish. He began well to be second early then drifted slightly to wind up fifth, one off the fence at the 1000m.
Keeping the leaders in view jockey Jamie Kah looked to challenge once into the straight but was momentarily blocked, switched back to the rail, accelerated along the fence to take the lead inside the 100m then held on gamely to the line.
Hopfgarten lay third (rails) turning in, pulled out to challenge but didn't see the winner flash through along the fence, got going again late but the post came up first.
Zahspeed led by three lengths at the 300m and still led inside the 100m but was swamped just short of the line for a good third.
