Ocean Jewel wins 2017 Tabtouch-Placid Ark Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA), 1200m.
Promising Simon Miller-trained filly Ocean Jewel recorded her first stakes success, which was her fourth win (with one placing) in seven starts. She settled in sixth place, one off the rails, behind a good tempo, before improving (deep) nearing the home turn. She dashed to the front at the 100m and then held on to score a good win.
Truly Belong settled back in third last place in the 11-horse field from her wide barrier (10). She got between runners nearing the home turn, fanned deep at the 300m and then ran on for a late-closing second in a smart effort.
Arrum Boy raced back in seventh place, moved up at the 200m and kept fighting on well to take the minor placing.
