Perfect Jewel wins 2017 Sky Racing - W.A. Guineas Group 2 $500,000 at Ascot (WA), 1600m.
Talented filly Perfect Jewel, recent winner of the Belgravia Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at this track on 28 October, took her imposing record to four wins from five starts in taking out this Group Two event.
She was settled nicely in eighth place by William Pike from her wide barrier (14), improved nearing the home turn, dashed to the front at the 100m and went on to score impressively in yet another brilliant ride by Pike.
Achernar Star settled back in ninth place on the rails from his good barrier (3). He stuck to the rails on straightening, got along the inner in the latter stages and ran on well for second.
WA Champion Fillies Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at this track last Saturday, Art Series had a good trip in fourth place, on the rails. She got through to challenge at the 200m and then battled on well to take the minor placing after appearing to have had every chance.
