Crystal Dreamer wins 2017 Doveton Stakes Listed $120,000 at Sandown-Hillside (VIC), 1000m.
The consistent sprinter Crystal Dreamer took his record to nine wins from 21 starts in taking out this Listed race, his first at stakes level after being placed three times previously. He was smartly away, was third early on before crossing to the lead approaching the home turn. He dashed clear nearing the 200m and then drew away to score impressively, dashing home in a smart 33.10 (last 600m).
Lady Esprit settled back in ninth place, tracked up (wide with cover) rounding the home turn, sprinted smartly from the 300m and ran on well to grab a very good second in the closing stages.
Gun Case raced in fourth place, but caught deep. He challenged nearing the 300m and then fought gamely for third after working most of the way.
