Francaletta wins 2017 Taranaki Breeders Stakes Group 3 NZ$80,000 at Hawera (NZ), 1400m.
Francaletta is assembling a fine race record with now her sixth win - her first at stakes level - in just eight starts for another nice win here. She bounced away well and took up a handy spot to trail the leader, one off the rails down the back. She moved up to co-lead at the 600m and looking for firmer going rounding the last corner deeper on the track but leading when turning for home.
Jockey Michael Coleman gave her a couple at the 250m then kept her going to the line to hold on well by a half length from Aide Memoire, who led down the side and was taken on by the winner at the 600m. Against the fence she gave the winner a good fight to the line - the first two being well clear of the remainder.
Underthemoonlight cruised up to third before the last corner but could not match the first two down the straight from Let Her Rip who lunged into fourth when the race was over.
