Sword Of Light broke smartly from barrier 12 and rider Damian Lane pressed forward three wide to be a handy third early, moving into second, a length off the lead, passing the 1000m. One out from the rail, she moved a shade closer at the 500m and challenged for the lead at the 300m.
After a tussle, she narrowly took over inside the 150m and then kept edging away to be a half length clear at the line, a nice win, her fifth (second stakes) for earnings of $606,250.
Swampland struck traffic into the straight and didn't find clear running until the 200m, then flew home but too late for second, while Lovani, who led into the straight, gave the winner a tussle to the 200m then held on well for third. Give Us A Go mounted a challenge at the 300m and kept on solidly for fourth.
