Jukebox wins 2017 Vain Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Caulfield (VIC), 1100m.
From barrier five, jockey Craig Williams positioned the favourite Jukebox beautifully in fifth, one off the fence when they settled, maintaining that spot to the last corner. Still in behind the pace turning in, Williams angled Jukebox out a width and went after the leaders, took a few strides to balance, then charged strongly overhauling the leader inside the 50m to score convincingly if narrowly, his third win in three starts. His future looks promising.
Plutocracy sat outside the pace to the last corner, took over upon straightening and looked the winner at the 100m until tackled by the winner at the 50m for a solid second.
Poseidon's Pool was midfield, three and four wide around the last corner, then ran home strongly between runners to grab third on the line from Ducimus, who was always handy on the rails, second at the 200m then holding on for fourth.
