Monsieur Gustave wins 2017 Hmr Projects Glasshouse Qlty Listed $175,000 at Sunshine Coast (QLD), 1400m.
Locally-trained Monsieur Gustave followed his win in the Eye Liner Stakes (Listed, 1350m) at Ipswich on 17 June with another good stakes win here. He again showed good pace and soon went to the front. He then set a reasonable tempo on the Soft 5 track (first 800m in 49.59) before lifting the pace from the 600m. He grabbed a good break on turning for home and then held on to score a smart win.
Snippets Land began well from his outside barrier (13) and soon worked across to race in third place, one off the rails. He was under riding at the home turn but responded, running on well for a good second, beaten half a length.
Man Of His Word raced back in ninth place and caught the eye running on really well for a late-closing third while the favourite Too Good To Refuse was near the rear to the home turn and made some ground without threatening for (3.7 lengths) 11th.
