Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 5th of May

The Shane Baertschiger trained Caorunn broke through for a much deserved win on Friday night when far too good for his rivals in the seventh event.

A Group 3 winner in New Zealand as a two-year-old, Caorunn has taken a while to break through, however his form has been rock solid throughout.

From seven starts in Singapore, Caorunn has notched up one win and three minor placings, two of which were in Group company.

Caorunn was only narrowly beaten in the Group 2 Golden Horseshoe [1200m], before going on to finish third in the Group 3 Juvenile Championship [1200m].

Having had no luck two back, Caorunn clearly appreciated being ridden forward when spacing his rivals on Friday night.

Beginning well under Mathew Kellady, Caorunn pushed up to settle outside the lead with Pioneer Seven holding the rail.

Taking a narrow advantage on straightening, Caorunn travelled boldly before cut loose inside the 300m.

Displaying a sharp turn of foot, Caorunn quickly burst clear of his rivals, eased down late to score by six lengths from the Michael Clements trained Knight Wager.

Marked up to his career best (raw ratings), Caorunn's performance was also his strongest against the clock.

The only galloper to be marked inside standard, Caorunn certainly appears back on track and creates plenty of interest for his next outing.

No question he is a talent and suspect we saw the real Caorunn on Friday night.

The dominant winning margin suggests there is more to come and he can make the rise through the grades.

When first landing in Singapore, Caorunn possessed quite the "boom" and while he's taken close to a year to break through, more wins now appear in store.

If placed in similar company at his next outing, he is expected to be very hard to beat and can be followed with confidence.

Lim's Sprint

In the final event the Dan Meagher trained Lim's Sprint broke back into the winner's stall when too good on-speed.

While mixing his form in recent efforts, Lim's Sprint clearly appreciated the drop back in grade, when back to his peak form.

At his best when able to lead/dictate, Lim's Sprint was rated beautifully by Danny Beasley and was simply too good

A winner of four of his 22 starts, Lim's Sprint is clearly capable and if able to remain in Class 4 company, he can go back to back at his next start.

The time figures were relatively strong and he is another who appears back on track.
